How Assemblis works

What is Assemblis?

We're a free, open platform connecting community assemblies worldwide. Assemblis makes local action visible, and turns individual efforts into a shared global movement. Every assembly that shares its story has the power to inspire the next one.

Assemblis is a place where people who have run community assemblies can create a public record of that work. We believe that record matters: both as a resource for others, and as a growing picture of what participatory democracy looks like in practice.

Who is it for?

Whether you're already running assemblies or thinking about starting one, Assemblis is for you. It’s for people who believe that real change starts locally - whether you’re an experienced organiser, a community activist or simply someone with a bright idea. No experience required. Just the desire to get people together and make something happen.

How it works

Gather your community: Bring people together around the issues that matter to you. Run your assembly however works best: the format, the venue, the focus are yours to choose.

Create your report: Make an account, draft your report, and publish it. Your report becomes an online, permanent record of your assembly's work that you own and can share.

Share your story: Send it to your assembly members. Use it to recruit new ones. See your assembly in the context of community action happening all over the world, and a community of organisers that you can learn from, and who can learn from you.

This is early days, and we're growing Assemblis alongside the communities who use it.

Why now?

At a moment when global challenges can feel overwhelming, community assemblies offer something rare: a way for people to meet, talk together, and take collective action. The movement is growing, built on the foundations of the Global Citizens' Assembly and years of international work in participatory democracy.

Assemblis is our contribution to that movement. We're still building, and we'll be honest about what's ready, and what's still to come. But the platform exists today, and communities are already using it.

Free, open, and built for communities.

If you're already organizing, tell us about it and put your assembly on the map! If you're not organizing yet, this might be the moment to start. Our free Community Assembly Guide takes you through every stage of running your own assembly and is packed full of tips and practical resources.
